Are you a “tired supergirl”? You’re probably thinking, What is a supergirl?

I’d define a supergirl as one who is everything to everybody all the time and is always…ALWAYS…near the end of herself.

She is tapped out, overworked, underpaid, juggling too many balls in the air and inwardly she is yearning for HELP!!!

Love Bridges the Gap by Dana Pittman

[pinit]

It is Day 3 of 31 Days of Love and we are merging with Blogging Through the Book. For a split second I thought of rescheduling All I Need is Jesus & A Good Pair of Jeans by Susanna Foth Aughtmon but I didn’t have the heart.

I mean, who doesn’t need Jesus and a good pair of jeans?

I also could not put this book down. Susanna is witty and she must be a mind and heart reader because this book is off to a great start.

Grace

Susanna opens the book with an angst prevalent in many believers’ lives, and although the title of the book is super cute, it’s not a good pair of jeans. (I’ll gladly take your recommendations in the comment box.)

“…what we really need is some grace. An
ever-present shower of grace that we can sit
under and soak up and let pervade all the
areas of our life that seem to fall short of the
glory of God.”

– Susanna Foth Aughtmon, p. 15

We need grace. Susanna then so cleverly moves us through some of the issues and hardships plaguing us tired supergirls

– Perfectionism

– Pride

– Worrying

– Condemnation; and

– Substitution.

Why is it important to rid ourselves of these issues? Because they keep us from experiencing the fullness Jesus so generously offers us.

They keep us trapped, living the life of a tired supergirl.

They keep us from fully experiencing God’s love.

“…our ultimate goal is to use our lives to
point others toward Christ.”

– Susanna Foth Aughtmon, p.29

The Bridge

Grace and love will build a bridge between our where we are and where we desire to be. And we have a choice…

“That God knows who I am and who I am
supposed to be, and even though I am
frequently caught napping, Christ is not
done with me.”

– Susanna Foth Aughtmon, p. 22

Question: Which of the ailments shared by Susanna haunt you often…pride, perfectionism, worry, condemnation or substitution?
