Bible Art Journaling Basics

...three easy steps to get start...

Bible journaling in concept is dated. I’m sure your grandmother or mother wrote about what she learned during bible reading or study. However, I think the concept of bible art journaling in its present form is somewhat new.

Bible Journal Basics | Dana Pittman

I don’t have dates and/or statistics about either of these statements so you’ll have to take my word for it. Additionally, I don’t think its origination is as important as its usefulness.

Therefore, today I thought I would share a little about it and why I think everyone should try bible art journaling.

Introduction to Bible Study

I am skating on thin ice with this declaration to post weekly. But know that I am still at it. 😉

Introduction to Bible Study - Book of James

My greatest conundrum is what to share in this space. I am asked and emailed many questions, however, I’m not certain what I plan to post. Therefore, in 2016 I am going to write about everything and let myself test the waters of posting regularly. I believe this will help me find my rhythm and it will save me the time of self-discussion about what is and what is not relevant.

Viewer Request: Explain My Quiet Time & Bible Art Journaling

Here is another one of those “leaps” for me. I want to bring my love of sharing via video to my personal blog.

Quiet Time and Bible Art Journaling ||

On my crafting blog, I share weekly videos about my adventures in crochet, knitting and quilting. Now I want to answer questions, study and more with you via video.

Today I will answer a viewer questions about my quiet time and I also share a little about an upcoming bible art journaling challenge.

About the Author

Over the years, God rewrote Carrie s dreams to include being a stay-at-home mom and a writer. Originally writing weekly devotions as a way to share what she learned with women from various military bases, Carrie decided to enroll in the Christian Writer s Guild. While there, seeds were planted and cultivated. After almost ten years in the military, Carrie s husband medically retired and they now live in central North Carolina with their three children. She stays busy with homeschooling all three and driving them to field trips and extra-curricular activities. Besides writing fiction novels, Carrie works part time in her church’s office and volunteers within two military ministries.

My Brief Review

I was contacted by the author and asked to review this title. I believe she contacted me because I mentor women as they read through the bible in 90 days. I quickly jumped at the chance to read this book. In this brief review I will share a pro and con from the book:

PRO: As I state below, I found her personal experience put to words what I have learned when I read the bible in a short period of time.

CON: I felt like some of the information was repetitive and full of quotes from outside sources.

This type of book, in my opinion, is hard to give a “rating” because this is her personal account, which gave the book a memoir feel. I don’t find that bad its just wasn’t what I fully expected. I thought it would have a little of her story and share a bit more about “The KEY” and “ABC”. But the concepts covered were general and many of the details came from outside quotes.

In the end I enjoyed the book.

Quotes from the Book

Taking in the Details – Part 2 of Bible Reading 2013

Part 2 of our reading is going to slow us down quite a bit. The reading plan is an original plan I’ve designed with a 5 day reading schedule. This allows for 2 days weekly of unscheduled reading. We will also have suggested memory verses, which highlights the importance of reading, studying and meditating on scripture.

This plan is 39 weeks. Participating readers will receive the assigned reading weekly. I plan to also include resources by book of the bible and periodic videos.

Again, readers can select their preferred version of the bible, whether print or electronic. I plan to use YouVersion app and The New Inductive Study Bible.
