Blogging Through the Book: Soul Smoothie
This week’s reading was AMAZING!
Not to say last week or the week before was unexceptional. However, this week’s reading made a scrumptious gumbo in my heart.
I don’t really meat so I’d have to call it a Soul Smoothie. (giggle)
This is Week 5 of Blogging Through the Book The Gospel of Yes by Mike Glenn. New here? Get caught up.
Now, I had to giggle with the thought of a Soul Smoothie. But I love smoothies. Actually, let me back up a little.
I read this book before at a rapid speed. For Blogging Through the Book I wanted to slow down and I re-read the chapters as they are assigned. Before it all began I broke them up by the number of weeks and we moved forward.
I had no idea that the content would be broken up to walk me through my current changes. God is good!
I had no idea the content would meet us as bloggers at our individual points of need. But it has. Again, God is good!!!
Back to that smoothie… Have you ever made one? I love green smoothies. Thus, in good fun and great reading I’m going to make a tasty written Soul Smoothie.
Ingredients
- Life
- Scripture
- My Life’s Calling (i.e., purpose)
- The Gospel of Yes
- Life (Wait…I listed that already but might need to leave it because life is a doozy…)
Blender
God is the blender. Work with me here. This week’s reading was amazing to me because life will have us confused. It will tell us
Who we are…
What we are to do…
What is cool…
What is fashionable…
How much we should weight…
How to wear our hair…
Etc.
People around us, even our faith families will tell us
Where we should serve…
How we should serve…
The way service should look…
Etc.
In our professional endeavors, our ministries we will hear
You need a website
You need a blog
You need to speak
You need to write
You need to tell everybody, everything, all the time!
Ok, maybe that last one was merely telling my business (smile)…but you get it. Right?
Although the intentions of the ones around us may be good, they may be great are they greater than God’s intent for us?
Do they want what God wants for our lives and His Kingdom and His glory?
Throw is all in the blender.
Go ahead do it.
Throw…
Doubt
God’s grace
Worry
Longing
Love
Joy
Peace
Bills
Husbands
Kids
Lack of finances
Hopes
Dreams
Christ on the cross
Throw it in the blender.
Did I forget something? Grab it. Go ahead…I’ll wait. **wink**
Got everything? On the count of three we are going to throw in all in the blender. Ready?
1…
2…
3…
PULSE
…God reveals your identity. P. 116
Pulse it all until you no longer see the individual ingredients. Let the hum of the motor soothe the aches that are threatening to take over.
Pulse until all the contents in the blender become something new. In Christ, all things are new.
Pulse until the blender produces your very own Soul Smoothie.
What this means is that those who become Christians
become new persons. They are not the same anymore,
for the old life is gone. A new life has begun!
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT) (Read in context)
We don’t know who we are until Jesus tells us. P. 116
Question: What do you see in your Soul Smoothie? What has God revealed to you?
